About us

About us

A few words

A great pub, serving great food to great locals!

The Blackmore Vale Inn is a beautiful 15th Century casual dining pub, in the heart of the village of Marnhull. The building oozes charm and character and includes 2 separate dining areas one with a lovely wood burning fire.

Your hosts Gail and Gordon pride themselves on the quality and variety of their locally inspired seasonal food and all of their dishes are cooked to order offering a very real air of individuality…and remember:

“Good food always takes a little time to arrive, so while you enjoy a pint of our award winning Badger Ale, from the Hall & Woodhouse brewery in Blandford, or glass or two from our extensive wine range, rest assured Gail and Gordon will make sure that your food is always of the highest quality.”

The Blackmore Vale Inn welcomes amongst others; locals, ramblers & walkers, cyclists, motor car clubs, well behaved dogs and even horses (although not inside obviously!) and with breath taking walks in the Blackmore Vale on the doorstep, why not join us for lunch or dinner and take in some of the beautiful scenery, either side of some great English hospitality.

Gail and Gordon look forward to welcoming you soon!

Food & Drink

Menu downloads below

Here at the Blackmore Vale Inn we pride ourselves on changing our menus depending on what locally sourced produce is available and in season.

However, rest assured that whenever you visit you will always be guaranteed a meal which has been freshly cooked to order and which won’t ever disappoint! Indeed our burgers are made with 100% beef or chicken breast and our sausages are award winning Gold Star quality.

In order to whet your appetite, we have provided samples of our main and lunchtime smaller appetite menus for you to download below, but rest assured that we are always trying out new dishes and recipes, so it’s always worth popping in to see what’s currently on offer.

Our Children’s Menu

We have also spent considerable time thinking about our younger guests and in addition to the burgers and sausages mention above, wherever possible, we source local fresh produce for them too, including; 100% home cooked meats, 100% fresh Cod fish fingers and 100% chicken breast nuggets, to complement our own homemade children inspired dishes, such as macaroni cheese.

Tea & Coffee Club

For those looking to relax in the morning or afternoon, we have a fantastic choice of 12 teas and 8 coffees, plus hot chocolate, together with a selection of homemade scones (plain & fruit with homemade Chantilly cream & jam’s) and cakes, including walnut & cranberry.

Food Served

Monday to Saturday – 12 noon to 2.30pm and 6pm to 9pm
Sunday – 12 noon to 3pm and 6pm to 8.30pm

We have a wide selection of wines, beers and spirits for you to choose from. These can act as the perfect accompaniment to our extensive menu, or if you just fancy popping in for a drink at the bar, that’s fine by us!

Our ales are supplied by Business Partners Hall & Woodhouse, independent family brewers since 1777 and based in nearby Blandford St. Mary.

Tanglefoot :
A traditional premium ale, light golden in colour. Noticeable floral dry hop aroma balanced with biscuity and fruity notes. Full bodied with a medium bitterness and a rounded, smooth, hoppy flavour. Hints of melon and pear. A clean finish with some hoppy linger.

First Call :

A classic country ale from Dorset using a single English hop for purity and character. Lauded for its well-balanced bitterness, with hints of orange and spice, First Call gives this classic Badger ale its clean, fresh, distinctive taste. Badger First Call is perfect with traditional English roasts and pies.
